Bu yıl 90. kez düzenlenen sinema dünyasının en prestijli ödülü olan Akademi Ödülleri Los Angeles'taki Dolby Theatre'da sahiplerini buldu. Jimmy Kimmel'ın sunduğu ödül töreninde dünyaca ünlü isimler bir araya geldi.
90. Oscar ödül töreni Jimmy Kimmel'ın son dönemlere damgasını vuran cinsel taciz ve cinsiyet eşitsizliği ile ilgili konuşarak açtı.
Geceye damgasını vuran konuşmayı ise en iyi kadın oyuncu dalında Oscar'ı kazanan Frances McDormand yaptı. Salondaki tüm kadınları ayağa kaldıran ve 'anlatacak çok hikayemiz var' diyen McDormand herkesin gözlerinin dolmasına sebep oldu.
